If you like the great outdoors and want to help vulnerable people, maybe even save a life, do join us!
We’re always on the look out for new members, both operational and non operational.
Before you become operational, we will train you in four skills:
- Navigation (equivalent to NNAS Bronze)
- Basic Life Support (e.g. FPHC PHEM Tier A)
- Radio Communications
- Water Awareness (DEFRA Module 1)
You also have to attend a search training weekend (for example those run by UKLSI), meet our fitness criteria (be able to walk 5 miles in less than 2 hours) and pass a police background check (NPPV).
Training is run during the year at our weekly Tuesday meetings, alternating with search exercises; when appropriate one of our trainers will attest that you have reached the necessary levels, so if you attend regularly you can qualify as operational in a few months.
We also need non operational members to help with administration, fundraising, communications and any occasional duties that may arise. So if searching is not for you, you can still help!
