Do you have what it takes to join us? Can you get up from your comfy bed in the middle of the night to search for someone missing, in the cold and the rain? If so, we would like to hear from you.
Before you become operational, we will train you in four skills:
- Navigation (equivalent to NNAS Bronze)
- Basic Life Support (e.g. FPHC PHEM Tier A)
- Radio Communications
- Water Awareness (DEFRA Module 1)
You also have to attend a search training weekend (for example those run by UKLSI), meet our fitness criteria (be able to walk 5 miles in less than 2 hours) and pass a police background check (NPPV).
Training is run during the year at our weekly Tuesday meetings, alternating with search exercises; when appropriate you will be assessed by one of our trainers so if you attend regularly you can qualify as operational in a few months.
